艺术源于生活,贝雕的题材亦是如此;人们的生活多样,因而贝雕的题材也是多样,寓意和而不同。接下来,便紧跟随我的步伐去领略贝雕艺术的一角。
Art derives from life, the same goes for the theme of shell carving. Compared with the life of human being, the themes of shell carving also abound, while implied meanings of them are harmonious but different. Please come with me to savour the art of shell carving.
1.
《迎客松》
首先为大家介绍的贝雕画是《迎客松》,产自广东省汕头市海门镇。迎客松是全国七八十年代工艺美术届最常见的题材之一。
Above all, here comes the introduction of a shell carving painting named Guest-Greeting Pine, whose birthplace is Haimen town, Shantou City in Guangdong Province.
迎客松破石而生,高耸在悬崖峭壁,象征着顽强的生命力。画中松树的叶子纹理清晰,栩栩如生。
The guest-greeting pine was one of the most common themes in the field of art and craft in 1970s and 1980s. Shooting out from the stones, the guest-greeting pine touches the sky, symbolizing tenacity. The leaves of the pine trees in this shell carving work are fine-grained and lifelike.
这种巧夺天工的作品不仅要求手工艺人细细打磨,更要注入制作人对贝雕的情怀。全幅作品寓意着好客,热情,海纳百川的大度品行,深受长辈的喜爱。
This sort of exquisite work not only requires the grinding with great care but also manifests the shell-carving passion of craftsmen. The Guest-Greeting Pine is characterized by hospitality, enthusiasm and magnanimity, which is extremely popular among seniorities.

《欄栅秋色》
吟诗畅谈时,提及秋天,我们会想到《蒹葭》,欣赏贝雕画时,谈起秋天,我们就会把目光聚焦在《欄栅秋色》上。
When we talk about poetry and autumn, we will think of Phragmites; when we appreciate the shell carving workand fall, we will focus on Lan San Qiu Se(the scenery of autumn).
这幅作品创作于20世纪70年代,产于潮汕地区。这是一幅写意作品,画中描绘了欲睡的鸟儿,凋零的菊花,横七竖八的杂草,摇曳风中的黄花,渲染出荒凉,萧瑟的秋天景象,予人一种道不明的沧桑感。
This work was created in Chaoshan region in 1970s. This liberal work depicts the sleeping birds, withering chrysanthemums, rambling weeds and swaying yellow flowers to render a sense of desolation. Additionally, the bleak autumn scene, gives people a sense of unknown vicissitudes.
画中黄花花瓣的方向各异,刻画出鲜明的立体感,且贝壳的弯曲程度恰到好处,带来一种欣赏真花的错觉。
The different directions of the yellow flower petals in the painting, depicts a distinct three-dimensional effect, and the shells bend naturally, rendering an illusion of real flowers.

《春夏秋冬的贝雕画》
在遇见贝雕后,说起季节不禁让我想起大连四幅主题为春夏秋冬的贝雕画,它跟潮汕贝雕的区别在于它主要以黑漆为底,这四幅贝雕画中分别有不同的题材。
The difference between it and Chaoshan shell carving is that it's base is mainly black. There are diverse themes in these four shell carving works.
有饱满丰盈的石榴籽寓意着多子多福,寿桃象征着万寿无疆,寿带鸟不仅寓意着长寿,还有着升官发财之意。
A plumpy pomegranate seed implys fertility and good luck; longevity peach symbolizes the immortality; the Indian paradise flycatcher not only implies longevity, but also the meaning ofrising officials and making a fortune.
愿爱贝的你苦尽甘来,褪去所有沧桑,一如年少模样。
May the one who falls in love with shells the following dreams come true: all your sufferings repay; all your tiredness relieve; all your vigour rebound.
