Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature (Translation and Interpreting)
Aim
Our English (Translation and Interpreting) program commits itself to cultivating advanced translation and interpretation talents catering to the needs of China’s economic and social development. Our courses focus on nurturing quality practitioners with sound bilingual proficiency, communication skills as well as knowledge and skills relating to translation and interpretation. We take pride in our dedicated faculty of translation and interpretation. With a well-equipped state-of-the-art Simultaneous Interpreting Lab, and a partnered Internship Base Project funded by the Department of Education, Guangdong Province, we are proud to offer you an authentic environment to hone your hands-on skills in the practice.
Course Structure
Year One & Year Two
In the first two years, the focus is on a common liberal arts program and English for academic purposes. This program prepares students for their degree courses.

Year Three
This year the emphasis is on understanding how the English language functions and how English varies according to context and purpose. Students are introduced to the theory and practice of Chinese-English translation and interpreting..

Year Three Electives
The third year electives of this program are shared with the sister degree, B.A. Business English, in order for you to gain knowledge of English used in the business world.
Year Four
Students finish their internship practice outside campus, and write up the graduation thesis, which would allow them to investigate how the English language functions in professional contexts, using some of the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills they have acquired over the previous three years.
